License

This page summarizes the OSX-REIMS license agreement, version 1.1, of September 16, 2026. The summary does not replace the agreement: the official text, in Portuguese, prevails.

Where the full text is#

The whole agreement can be read right here, before you install anything:

These are the same files the package installs. The Portuguese text is the official one; the English translation is provided for reference only and, in case of divergence, the Portuguese text prevails.

After installing, they are on your computer as well:

osx-reims setup shows a summary and asks whether you accept the license; the r key opens the full text.

Who may use it#

• Members with an active, paid-up membership in the Universo Hackintosh members' club.
• Only with copies obtained through the official members' channels.
• The license is personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable, for your own use on your computers.

Anyone who is not an active member, or who obtained the software outside the official channels, even from a member, has no license to install or use OSX-REIMS.

When the membership ends, the license ends and OSX-REIMS must be removed, for example with sudo apt remove osx-reims. The VMs, installers and other data you created remain yours.

What is not allowed#

Without prior written permission, you may not:

• copy the software, beyond the copies made by installing and using it normally;
• distribute, share, publish, sell, rent or make the software available to others, by any means;
• modify, adapt, translate or create derivative versions of the software;
• reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract its code, except as the law allows;
• submit the software, its code or parts of it to artificial intelligence tools, or use them for data mining or to train AI systems;
• remove or change copyright notices, license notices or third-party notices;
• use the software to create or offer a competing product or service.

Alpha software, no warranty#

OSX-REIMS is an experimental alpha version. It may contain errors, work incompletely, cause data loss, and be changed or discontinued without notice. It is provided as is, without any kind of warranty and with no obligation to provide support, fixes or updates.

You are responsible for installing and using it, for the settings it applies to your computer and for backing up your data. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the licensor is not liable for damages arising from its use or inability to use it.

macOS and Apple#

OSX-REIMS neither contains nor distributes macOS: your computer downloads macOS directly from Apple's servers. Complying with the macOS license, which only allows its use on Apple hardware, is your responsibility.

OSX-REIMS is not affiliated with, sponsored or approved by Apple Inc. Apple and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc.

Third-party components#

Files by other authors distributed with or downloaded by OSX-REIMS, such as OpenCore, kexts, macserial, macrecovery and the boot script derived from Reims vGPU, are governed by their authors' licenses, which prevail for those files. Reims vGPU is downloaded from its original repository, under its authors' license, and is not part of OSX-REIMS.

OSX-REIMS and Reims vGPU are independent projects, by different authors. OSX-REIMS is not affiliated with, sponsored or approved by the Reims vGPU authors, does not belong to that project and takes no part in its development. The name OSX-REIMS indicates that the solution was built to work with that technology, not a connection to the project.

The restrictions in the previous section cover OSX-REIMS itself, not those files: each component's own license prevails and is not limited by the agreement. The boot script boot-x86-uniha.sh, derived from vm/boot-x86.sh of Reims vGPU, is LGPL-3.0-or-later — it ships as a readable script, which is its own corresponding source, and that license's rights remain fully in force.

Components downloaded when a VM is created#

Three files the EFI uses are not distributed with OSX-REIMS, because no redistribution license was identified for them at their sources:

When you create or import a VM, OSX-REIMS downloads the three straight from their sources, checks the fingerprint (SHA-256) pinned in this release and copies them into that VM's EFI. The addresses are fixed to an exact version, never to "the latest one". A fingerprint that differs from the expected one stops the operation without touching the VM.

The files are kept in /opt/osx-reims/cache/third-party/ and reused by later VMs, so the download happens only once. Nothing that is downloaded is ever executed on your computer.

Record of acceptance#

When you accept the license in setup, OSX-REIMS records on your computer the date and time of acceptance, the user, the computer name, the OSX-REIMS version, and the version and fingerprint (SHA-256) of the accepted text. This record stays only on your computer and is not sent to the licensor.

A new license version comes with a new OSX-REIMS version and must be accepted in osx-reims setup for the software to keep being used.

Breach and jurisdiction#

Breaching any clause ends the license automatically. In that case, you must stop using the software and delete every copy. The agreement is governed by the laws of Brazil, with the courts of Curitiba, Paraná, as the chosen jurisdiction.
